Marie incorporates the importance of humility, gratitude and discipline in her instruction, as a means to finding freedom and inner peace, on and off the mat. She grew up in Hamden, Connecticut, and stayed close to her hometown in her adult years, working as a high school Spanish teacher, and then as a vice principal of a grade 6-8 middle school. As the challenges of her leadership role in public education increased, Marie began to seek a sense of balance in her life. With this in mind, in 2010, she took her first yoga class, guided by teachers of the B. K. S. Iyengar and Hatha Yoga lineage. She was immediately hooked! Needing to learn more, Marie was like a sponge to the words and instruction of her teachers. In September 2014, she became certified as a RYT-200 in Raja Hatha Yoga at Soulspace Yoga & Wellness in Plantsville, CT (no business affiliation with Soul Space Yoga & Wellness in West Palm Beach).
Her studies in and exposure to the yogic tradition, teaching, and philosophy gave her the courage to leave her career in public education. She and her husband moved to West Palm Beach to explore a new path, all with opened minds and hearts. During her first year of living in South Florida, she enrolled in a Foundations of Ashtanga teacher training program at the Native Yoga Center in Juno Beach and, in October 2015, she earned her certification as a RYT 500 and has achieved E-RYT 500 status since then.
A consummate teacher at heart, Marie hopes to inspire and spread love and light to the community. She believes yoga can bring a sense of harmony to humanity — one posture and one breath at a time. Marie incorporates the importance of humility, gratitude, and discipline in her instruction, as a means to finding freedom and inner peace — both on and off the mat.
With the love, support and encouragement of her friends and family, Marie founded Soul Space Yoga & Wellness in downtown West Palm Beach to allow yogis (new and experienced) a space to breath, explore and connect to self and the community. She is eternally grateful to the special individuals in her life who have afforded her this gift and opportunity.
